LLOST's Treasured Memories Donations

On October 9, 2008, LLOST made a donation through the Treasured Memories Campaign, to the Perinatal Bereavement Program at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Read the article written about this donation!

LLOST donation

Donations were made by people who have been directly affected by the loss of a child at or before birth. Thanks to everyone that helped to made this donation possible.

Our truck was full of the stuff we donated*!

Steph, Eileen, Tom, Grandma (Mary), James, Duncan and Vicky delivered everything to the Virginia Hospital Center (and had a great time doing so :) )

Grandma (Mary) is making James do all the heavy work LOL! That's the box full of the new camera and camera supplies that Grandma contributed! James went crazy on the LLOST Amazon wishlist and bought a ton of the odds and ends, such as the hand/foot molding stuff, books for fathers grieving and also a bunch of small silver rings.

Zara's granddad helping out. Tom and Eileen donated so many books and helped so much with the planning of this!

Eileen, Vicky, Michelle & Steph. Michelle is a nurse here and feels strongly about perinatal bereavement care. She also lost a son at birth. She is just such a wonderful lady. She was so excited to get all the stuff we donated.

Grandma, Steph & Eileen.

* Donation included white satin Memory Box Kits; mother's journals; heart necklaces; casting material to make molds of the babies’ hands and feet, including seashells for the small babies; a camera for the nursing staff to take the babies’ pictures, as well as printer paper and ink; a variety of baby clothing, such as newborn and preemie boy/girl outfits to be worn for the photographs; homemade goods such as baby blankets to wrap the babies in and an angel pin for the mother to wear; sliver rings, bead necklace making supplies; and a variety of hand-selected books on grieving that we felt were beneficial.

Note: We have recently heard from the Virginia Hospital Center. Their short message was: Unfortunately, we have had to use some of the Memories boxes, but fortunately, we had them to use.
