About LLOST

This organization began with the passing of Brian Hilliard. Brian was 22 when he was killed in a sudden and tragic accident on September 7, 2005.
To sum it up, each one of us – family and friend – were lost. We did not know what to do, who to talk to or how to go on living. As we went through the motions of living our lives one day at a time, it became apparent what helped and what didn’t.
The founders of The Loss of Loved Ones to Sudden Tragedy (LLOST) Foundation quickly realized that by providing timely information and resources at this critical juncture in our lives, we could be there to help others, as well as ourselves.
Mission: To support, by all means possible, those left behind after the loss of a loved one to a sudden tragedy.
Vision: To make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by the loss of a loved one due to a sudden tragedy by being there and relating to what they are going through, as well as providing hope for the future.
Guiding Principles: LLOST is a foundation committed to the values of compassion, understanding, and respect.
On 29 September 2008, Loss of Loved Ones to Sudden Tragedy (LLOST) Foundation was incorporated by the State Corporation Commission of the Commonwealth of Virginia. LLOST Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit/Tax Exempt Organization, which functions as a public charity filing IRS Form 990 N every May 1st.
